Let's Fix Fashion | Break Down Walls

There are a lot of ways we can improve the relationship we have with fashion. From how the clothes are made to our obsession with consumption. From how clothes are sold to how the clothes are discarded. As a culture we tend to care more about how the animals we eat are treated than the people who make what we wear. We also seem to care about the state of the planet without connecting how throwing our clothes away is impacting the Earth.

Today we have a chance to do things differently. Not out of guilt, not out of fear, but out of being empowered by our purchases. By thoughtfully buying our clothes we can make a positive impact on the fashion industry and the world as a whole.

We know this won’t be an easy journey but here are a few things we can do:

  1. Educate ourselves

Learn about how the fashion industry works and about the brands that are setting the tone for how we purchase. Check out True Cost on Netflix where you can learn about how cotton farmers and garment workers are treated as well as how how fast fashion is impacting our society.

2. Support ethically made brands

There are many online resources that can inform you on what brands are more ethical. Good on You is a great resource to explore!

3. Share with others

It is important for us to spread the word on social media. When that happens brands pay attention and make changes. Fashion Revolution has done this masterfully with their #WhoMadeMyClothes that received 533 million impressions in 2017 alone.

We believe we can make a difference. Join us!
